Agriculture Business
Sales, Management, Policy, Marketing, BankingThe Agriculture Business program provides the student with employable skills and a framework for further studies if desired. Course work is practical and broad based. Emphasis is placed on the development of skills in business management, marketing, finance, computers, human relations, and agricultural accounting. The computer labs, campus farm, and greenhouses provide an ideal setting for hands on learning.

Heavy Equipment Operator, Golf Turfgrass Industry, Equipment Dealerships.The Agricultural Engineering Technology Program includes both a Mechanized Agriculture, and Heavy Equipment Operator program.
Mechanized Agriculture
The Mechanized Agriculture program utilizes an exciting, hands-on approach to introduce
students to a wide range of mechanical skills dealing with the operation, maintenance
and repair of small to midsize gasoline diesel and electrically-operated equipment.
Wherever power equipment is operated, maintained, or repaired, there exists a need
for well-trained employees. Production agriculture and its equipment suppliers, the
rental industry, landscape businesses, recreation and construction industries are
just a few of the employment possibilities.

Heavy Equipment
The Heavy Equipment Operator Technician program utilizes a hands-on approach to introduce
students to a wide range of operating and mechanical skills. Classroom and laboratory
work closely replicate field experiences. Construction equipment operation requires
good hand-eye coordination and demands attention to details like timelines, precision
driving, coordination of multiple operations and following plan directions. Students
who successfully complete the program requirements will have the operation, repair,
and diagnostic skills necessary to obtain entry level employment as operators or mechanics.
Partners include Operating Engineers Local 3, CalTrans, CDF, local and statewide contractors,
and agriculture companies. Jobs are also available in production agriculture, land
leveling, orchard removal, and with other agricultural employers.

Agriculture Science
Ranch Management, Food Science, Dairy IndustryThe Agriculture Science program offers AS degrees with flexible class selection that lead to a variety of professions including agriculture sciences, agriculture education, and agribusiness occupations. Students in the program receive valuable real-world instruction centered on the regional agricultural industry. Students receive training in up-to-date technologies backed by current emerging industry practices by experienced faculty in order to gain the practical experience needed for future employment. California ranks first in the nation in annual gross agricultural returns with over 250 specialty crops and a productive livestock sector. Abundant opportunities await agriculture students who graduate and enter into an industry that encompasses 20 percent of the nation’s economy.

Environmental Horticulture
Pest Control Advisor, Nursery Production, Irrigation Design, Landscape DesignThe courses in environmental horticulture are designed to enable students to prepare for exciting careers in the essential and diverse horticulture profession or earn continuing education units (CEUs) for professional licenses. Career options include Pest Control Advisor (PCA), nursery and greenhouse management, retail garden centers, supply and equipment sales, commercial fruit and nut production, irrigation and landscape design, installation and maintenance, plant protection interior landscaping, and agriculture education.

Natural Resources
Parks Service, Natural Resource Conservation Service, Bureau of Land ManagementThe Natural Resources Management program is designed to meet the demand for trained
personnel in a broad range of Natural Resource/Environmental Science Fields in addition
to numerous private organizations. Intense pressures are being placed on the nation’s
environmental resources as the population increases. This creates an ever-growing
demand for trained people to work in forestry, recreation, water, soil, wildlife and
other natural resource/environmental management areas. Career opportunities exist
with the U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, California
Department of Fish and Wildlife, National Park Service, and U.S. Soil Service as well
as numerous private management firms, environmental companies, and land developers,
to list a few possibilities. Employment in any of these areas will provide an opportunity
for working in one of the nation’s most interesting, diverse, diversified and rapidly
expanding fields.
